For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself-and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

GBC Review by Sofia S.

The Selection is a positively wonderful book. The many twists in this book will leave any girl riveted, even those who hate reading. Personally, I would recommend this series to all girls over 9 years old to fully understand the plot. I have already finished reading Book 2, The Elite and I’m searching for Book 3, The One. But, just a warning: This is a very girly book with princesses and kings and queens. Thanks GGC for recommending.

  1. I really enjoyed this book! It has great characters with a reality TV “The Batchlor” feel. The main character, who narrates the story, has some great insights into female behavior and is a compassionate and unique personality who isn’t afraid to say what she feels… even to her detriment. I thought this was an easy to read story that made me want to read the second and third books too. The series was entertaining and I would recommend all three books to anyone who likes Divergent, Hunger Games and Delirium

  2. It was a great book. I liked how the author made up the casts. I liked how the author made up or guessed what was happening in the future.

  3. The Selection was an excellent book that made you feel like you wanted to participate in it. The author really did a great job in showcasing America Singer’s thoughts and emotions. I especially liked how it was from her own perspective! The book was very intriguing and made me want to read the next books in the series. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy YA dystopian thrillers like Divergent, Hunger games, matched and delirium. Of course there are much more to choose from!!!
