I thought this was such a cute idea for a college dorm room or to brighten a bedroom. And the best part is that no one has to take care of it and there is no watering involved. We were inspired to make these Rock Cactus Gardens by a post on Facebook from www.Budget101.com. Here is how we made our own Rock Cactus Garden plants.


You will need:

• Rocks
• Different shades of green paint (we even used green nail polish)
• White paint or white nail art pen
• paint brushes
• a pot (we used small bowls)
• pot filler such as sand, soil, gravel or small rocks

Directions:

1. Paint one side of rocks green (you can leave a bit a the bottom that will be covered with soil free of paint in order to hold them while painting)



2. Let dry.



3. Turn over and paint other side of rocks.



4. Let dry.
5. Using white paint and a thin brush or a nail art pen, paint dots, stars, lines etc. on to one side of the rocks to make them look like cactus spikes. See examples in pictures.
6. Let dry.
7. Meanwhile, fill pot almost to rim with filler.
8. Once rocks are dry, arrange them in the pot so it looks like a cluster of cacti.
9. Voila! Have fun with different ways to make rocks look like cacti.
