Pita Tree Apps

pitatreeI came across this no bake appetizer recipe and thought what a cute idea!! These tasty trees get us in the holiday spirit and are healthy! Now thats a hard to find present. I adapted this recipe from www.bettycrocker.com but substituted plain greek yogurt for the sour cream, and left out some spices and boy were these yummy. Try it for yourself!

INGREDIENTS
  • 4 Whole Wheat Pita Pockets (approx 6 inches in diameter)
  • 32 thin Pretzel Sticks
  • 1/2 cup fat free Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup Guacamole
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped Red Bell Pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Slice each Pita Pockets into 8 triangles (like cutting a pizza)
  2. Insert pretzel stick into center of bottom of each pita triangle about half way up to form “tree trunk.”
  3. In small bowl, mix greek yogurt and guacamole.
  4. Spread about 1 teaspoon of the mixture onto each pita wedge.
  5. Blot bell pepper with paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  6. Sprinkle about 1/4 teaspoon bell pepper on each wedge or arrange to form a garland
  7. Serve and enjoy!
NOTES:
If desired you can cover and refrigerate up to 8 hours before serving.
