Home Made Taco Seasoning

Taco’s used to be a guilty dinner in my house. Everyone loves them and it is a fast no hassle dinner, with lots of fresh toppings, but the seasoning that came in the package always made me cringe. What is maltodextrin? silicon dioxide? ethoxyquin? One day I realized after I started making tacos, that I didn’t have a seasoning package. A quick search and I found this recipe by Off the Cutting Board. I didn’t tell my family that we made the switch till after we ate and they couldn’t tell the difference so gave it 2 thumbs up. Now we always make our own and it’s so easy that I’m mad I didn’t do it sooner.

  • 6 tsp Chili Powder
  • 5 tsp Paprika
  • 4 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 2 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/8 tsp Cayenne Powder
  1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Store in an air tight container. I used an empty spice bottle.
  3. Use 3 TBSP of seasoning mix and 2/3 cup of water for a pound of ground beef or ground turkey.
NOTES: This recipe will allow you to make tacos approximately 2-3 times. I Doubled the recipe to fill this container.
